Trend to Try: Crochet Clothing

Crochet clothing: Diane Kruger, Ashley Tisdale and Eva Longoria

Crochet clothing, the 70s inspired trend, has been making a comeback. But the boho-look of former decades has been given a slight makeover. Crochet tops and outfits still carry the familiar quaint quality, but crochet trends of today’s generation are not only boho chic, they’ve also crossed over into the mainstream. Some styles are even geared toward a more elegant and polished look.

Crochet has pretty much been occurring in different styles from top to bottom!

Crochet tops create an open, fun and flirty look perfect for spring and summer. Cropped tops are cute and sexy. And Longer tops look great tucked into long maxi skirts and shorts.

Bright colored maxi skirts paired with more neutral-toned crochet tops make for an eye-catching ensemble.

Keeping everything neutral is also a noteworthy look that will certainly turn heads. I love the slight bursts of colors contrasting the light, creamy colors of the rest of her springtime look.

Then again, I also love the look of this casual half-tucked, half-loose crochet top in these bold shorts.

I like the pairing of dainty crochet patterns and lace with something a little more edgy like a leather jacket.

Repeat Possessions has a few different styles of crochet tops that go great with leggings, tube dresses, shorts, and skinny jeans. They’re also great for throwing over your swimsuit during a day at the beach. Wear them for casual frolicking or dress them up for Sunday brunch!

In other domains of crochet clothing, crochet shorts have been making waves every now and then. But I myself have trouble with crochet shorts since they can draw a lot of attention to my curves when I might not want that much attention. So I understand if crochet shorts don’t exactly float your boat. But those of you with slight figures that don’t feel larger with too many ruffling crochet and lace patterns (like me!), sure can rock a pair of crochet shorts!

Love the simple black button-down with these flowery crochet shorts!

I haven’t tried a pair myself yet, but for those a little hesitant about wearing short crochet shorts, crochet skirts might be a better option.

This is a cute spring outfit. The soft tones of pink and white are like cherry blossoms!

Crochet dresses are also cute and form-flattering. But I’d be careful not to wear to many loud things with a crochet dress. Perhaps a simple necklace and peep-toe shoes.

This look is so simple but lovely!

And of course, completing the last aspect of your crochet closet, Toms has a series devoted to crochet flats and wedges!
